Key apps to install on arrival

Dubai Police app — file non-urgent reports, pay fines, request certificates Dubai Now — central super-app: DEWA, RTA, visa status, fines all in one place Smart Dubai (DubaiConnect) — government services hub Careem or Uber — essential for getting around Talabat or Deliveroo — food and grocery delivery All apps available on iOS and Android. Most government services require UAE Pass (digital ID) — set it up once you have your Emirates ID.

Medical emergencies

Call 998 for ambulance — response time in central Dubai is typically 8–12 minutes. Nearest major hospitals: Rashid Hospital (Deira), Dubai Hospital (near Gold Souk), Mediclinic City Hospital (Healthcare City), American Hospital (Oud Metha). If you have insurance, call the insurer's emergency line before going to hospital — some plans require pre-authorisation for non-life-threatening situations. For 24/7 clinics: Aster Clinics and Mediclinic Urgent Care are widespread and accept most insurance.
