Dubai Metro has two lines: Red Line (airport to Jebel Ali) and Green Line (Creek to Healthcare City). Covers most business districts — DIFC, Downtown, Business Bay, Marina, JBR, Deira. Hours: Saturday–Thursday 5:30am–midnight, Friday 10am–1am Gold Class (front/back car): 3x standard fare — not worth it for everyday use Women & Children car: free upgrade, same fare
Use Careem or Uber when: the destination is more than 15 minutes walk from a metro station, late at night, or carrying heavy luggage. Airport tip: Dubai Metro Red Line goes directly to Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 (Expo station for T2). A metro ride to Downtown costs ~5 AED vs 50–80 AED by taxi — take the metro unless you have excessive luggage.
